Protein Chocolate Mousse

Light & fluffy, rich & chocolatey – satiate your sweet tooth and increase your protein with this delicious protein packed chocolate mousse!

I used Optimum Nutrition protein powders for this recipe.

  • ½ cup egg whites
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 packet Weight Watchers Chocolate Mousse Mix (20g)
  • 2 scoops chocolate whey protein powder (60g)
  • 2 scoops chocolate casein protein powder (60g)
  • 3 tbsp of chia seeds

Beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks, use an electric mixer set on medium, or a rotary beater.
Make sure that the beaters are clean and the egg whites are in a clean glass or metal bowl and that there’s no stray yolk or fat particles, which can prevent proper whipping.
Once thick and you can form peaks, set to one side.

In a seperate bowl beat the Weight Watchers Chocolate Mousse Mix with 1 cup of almond milk until completely combined and there are lots of little bubbles.

Add the casein powder, the whey powder, chia seeds and the second cup of almond milk to the chocolate mousse mix and beat until combined completely into a thick batter.

Add the egg whites to the chocolate protein batter.

Fold the eggs whites into the batter with a spatula until combined. Make sure you fold the batter, don’t mix it or you will loose the light fluffy element of the mousse.

Pour the mixture into four seperate ramekins, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. If you’re pushed for time you can put the ramekins in the freezer for an hour.

For presentation garnish with berries before you serve.
